Mending the hearts of children in need—regardless of their race, religion, gender, nationality, or the ability of their families to pay.

Every year, Save a Child’s Heart treats hundreds of children who are suffering from serious congenital heart defects and rheumatic heart disease while maintaining an extraordinary 96% surgical success rate—saving the life of another child every 24 hours.

Save a Child’s Heart also maintains the Legacy Heritage Children’s Home in Holon, Israel, as a “home away from home” for up to 60 guests where children and their mothers may stay without cost while preparing for and recovering from surgery (these stays typically last around three months). This modern, light-filled building is a warm place filled with laughter and hope, where often the only common language is a smile.

The Sylvan Adams Children’s Hospital and the Ida Cabakoff International Pediatric Cardiac Center for Save a Child’s Heart in Israel opened in 2020. This seven-floor medical facility is the first international pediatric cardiac care facility in the Middle East and features state-of-the-art infrastructure, equipment, and expertise to treat children at the highest standard, including three operating rooms with the latest cutting-edge technologies that enable medical teams to conduct complex procedures such as open-heart surgery and catheterization procedures on the same patient simultaneously.

Save a Child’s Heart is also working to create centers of medical competence in developing countries so that critically ill children can be successfully treated in their own communities. Qualified medical personnel from around the world are invited to Israel for advanced, post-graduate training in all facets of pediatric cardiac care, including cardiology, surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, perfusion, and nursing. The ultimate goal of these outreach training programs, which vary from three months to five years, is to help build sustainable pediatric cardiac programs around the globe.

The vision of Save a Child’s Heart also includes strengthening healthcare capabilities in developing nations through direct, hands-on impact. To date, Save a Child’s Heart medical teams have conducted over 30 surgical and catheterization missions and more than 70 cardiology clinics around the world, touching the lives of over 8,500 children and their families.
